Express Entry
1. Federal Skilled Worker Program
This program is applicable to skilled workers who may obtain permanent residence as a result of their ability to become economically established in Canada.
Minimum Requirements
- At least one year of skilled and paid full time work experience (or equivalent part time work) in managerial, professional and technical jobs and skilled trades specified in the National Occupational Classification (NOC), within the prior 10 years.
- Meet the Language threshold in French or English.
- Have a post secondary certificate, diploma or degree.
- Show proof of resettlement funds unless an applicant is legally able to work in Canada and has secured job offer from a Canadian employer.
2. Federal Skilled Trades Program
The Federal Skilled Trades Program pertains to skilled workers who seek to become permanent residents due to them being qualified in a skilled trade.
Minimum requirements
- Meet the required language threshold.
- Show proof of resettlement funds unless an applicant is legally able to work in Canada and has secured job offer from a Canadian employer.
- At least 2 years of full-time work experience or equivalent part time experience in a skilled trade within the 5 years prior to the application.
- Comply with the job requirements for that skilled trade stipulated in the National Occupational Classification, except for needing a certificate of qualification.
- Have a valid offer of employment for a period of at least one year or hold a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority certificate of qualification in the skilled trade.
3. Canadian Experience Class
As suggested by the name, this is applicable to skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and wish to become permanent residents.
Minimum requirements

- Meet the required language threshold
- Have at least 1 year of Canadian skilled work experience in the 3 years prior to the application obtained whilst legally working in Canada in a designated job, excluding self-employment and student work experience.
